Cut the potatoes in half, then slice into 1cm thick pieces. Soak in water, drain, and microwave with 1 tbsp of water for 4–5 minutes at 600W until soft. Drain excess water.

Make a slit in the cod roe and scoop out the contents with a spoon.

Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add potatoes and stir until coated with butter. Add cod roe, break it apart while stirring, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
